I have internet working now, with some small annoyances. I can't sign out of my primary email without my system wanting to disconnect, which sucks for anyone who wanted to check their email on my computer. I also don't seem to be able to check my email on other computers. I will have to call up tech support again when I get a free moment and see if they can unravel this knotty ball of yarn.
Tech support: the seers, priestesses, medicinemen and witch doctors of the modern era.
School is continuing to kick my ass! But the work is fascinating and I love it, I honestly believe that everyone should read every article in my "Race, Class and Ethnicity in the Schooling Process" course, I am continually having my mind blown. I also, while time permits, continue the quest for a replacement seatbelt for my 1985 Pontiac Grand Am (for all of you who fear imminent death when you drive with me). The only problem is that my part number seems to only have 6 digits and they need 8 to order a new part for me.
Today is a day of overdue laundery and studying, while
Vireo is volunteering at the Cabrillo music festival. But last night we got to do something I've always wanted to do: go to the drive-in! It was soooo cool, all 50's style with rolling hills of pavement and people hanging out in their cars and we could watch the movie on this big screen outdoors and TALK AS MUCH AS WE WANTED!!! They even had those little old fashioned "Let's all go to the lobby!" snack ads! Awww, I'm such a dork. =)The movie we saw was the new "Manchurian Candidate" and I haven't seen the original, but I really liked this. Felt sort of like a collage of "The X-Files", "Jacob's Ladder" and "Memento". Good paranoia movie and it managed to still seem pretty timely and relevant, despite the fact that it's a remake of a political thriller. My only complaint is that I have this image in my head of Denzel Washington as this real take charge kind of guy, and he seemed much more passive and unsure of himself in this movie, which is what the role is all about, but it still seemed kind of odd.
We were given the option of a double feature and started watching "The Clearing" but left halfway through. We did have a good time mocking it for quite a while though.
Hopefully when
Vireo gets off work today we can go do another thing I've always wanted to do: Go to an old-fashioned photo booth and get a picture of the two of us as old west hoochies! Yeah! Hopefully the Boardwalk won't be weird about me wanting to be a barroom bitch. God, when am I going to find the time to shave?
But before I go, a little corner of heaven that I haven't had a chance to indulge in for a
while.
